This is part of a series. Are they any special challenges when writing for a series?
For me the challenges fall in the longer series. For me I have to rely heavily on notes in order to remember how things played out in previous books so I don’t write anything that would lend to a discrepancy. Not clouding the details is important.
Tell us about your latest book?
My brand new release is Sweet Affliction. It’s the 4th book in my Sweet Awakenings series which focuses on our US Navy SEALs. In this installment some unsettled business from years earlier come to the fore front as a villain from the past sets out to finish a plan he set into motion nearly a decade ago in Colombia.
Plotter or Pantser?
I am most definitely a Pantser. I start with a general idea and let the story takes me wherever it chooses to. I’m merely an outlet for my muses to do their thing.
What makes a great hero?
In my mind a great hero has to have strengths and weaknesses. No one is super human. Even the most strong and valiant heroes are vulnerable to something. I like to show that in my heroes, make them as believable to real life as possible. I (personally) don’t like reading about a hero who is perfect in every sense of the word. He needs flaws. So, I give him some. J
Do you have anything in common with your characters?
As far as the characters in this book, I would say my ability to be positive and have faith comes through in the main characters. At the end of every day all we ever have is our mental attitude. Money or material objects can’t get us through the worst of times, our positivity does. I believe my characters have done this in spades. They were thrown quite a few obstacles and curve balls, but managed to get through it, together.
Do you believe in love at first sight?
Of course I do. I’m a hopeless romantic and believe that love can hit you at any time. Whether that be at first sight, after a long romantic dinner date, or after a long friendship. It is out there. Sometimes you just have to be willing to see it.
Have there been any real-life love stories that have inspired you?
Nothing in particular has been used for inspiration. Most of my story ideas are drawn from the idea of conflict and what ordinary couples would be faced with. Life is never easy, and some have more complications than others. Hopefully though all couples are able to stick by one another’s sides and withstand whatever tragedy they’re forced to endure.
Who are some of your favorite authors?
I have always been a fan of Beth Kerry, AJ Llewellyn and Tymber Dalton. Although I’m finding more and more talented authors in the growing family of Siren Publishing.
Do you have any advice for aspiring writers trying to get published?
It may sound cliché, but I would say never give up. Also, you have to be willing to take advice and criticism. If someone tells you what isn’t working in your story, consider what they’re saying. There is a chance that they may be right.
What is the hardest thing about being a writer?
There are so many pros and not many cons that I guess for me it would have to be prioritizing time between writing, social networking and promotion. As a writer you really need to be able to multi task as well as keep yourself focused. Setting goals for yourself helps keep you on task as well.
What are you currently working on?
I’m past the halfway point in writing the 3rd book in my Intimate Temptations series. This one will be called Intimate Seductions and centers on Warren, the older family friend and Amber, the early 20’s beauty who catches him by surprise.
What do you do when you’re not writing?
I try to stay active, since sitting at the computer all day isn’t exactly heart healthy. I’m also active in troop and veteran support. As a matter of fact I am a Soldiers Angel (http://soldiersangels.org) and 10%of the royalties on my newest release Sweet Affliction will benefit nonprofit organizations dedicated to providing educational assistance and support grants to families of wounded and fallen United States Navy SEALs.
How can you fans find you on the net?
Nicole Morgan was an avid reader who kept having one recurring problem. Ideas of stories kept popping into her head. Today Nicole is an author of erotic romantic novels, which more often than not have a suspenseful back story. Erotic romance mixed with a good old-fashioned whodunit. She tries to place strong emphasis on the characters’ emotions while also throwing in some spicy and hot love scenes. Her alpha male of choice will more often than not have a uniform of some kind. From military to police officers, she has a love for writing about those who protect and serve.
While still trying to stay true to her style, she is finding her writing is evolving as she takes on new and uncharted territory for her. In the first months of this year she finally wrapped up her first ever full-length paranormal romance novel. There are many areas of erotica out there that she hasn’t had a chance to really delve into just yet, but she is anxiously looking forward to doing just that.
